Benefits for Colorado, blow to department workforce foreseen in USDA relocation.
CO Farm and Food Alliance director Pete Kolbenschlag acknowledges benefits of locating some national USDA programs to Ft. Collins, for jobs and research opportunities but questions the overall benefit in context of massive downsizing and other large-scale reorganization across USDA agencies.
“It’s important not to look at these things through just the framing of jobs in Colorado or more research being done out of our flagship ag school,” Kolbenschlag said.
“Those are good things, but that’s a pretty narrow way of thinking when we’re talking about a massive reorganization of a major federal department that impacts everything from food security to renewable energy on rural lands to climate change and water policies.” Read the article here.
